LT Ski @ Lake Tahoe – March 21-28

Labas Visiems!     Hello everyone!     

This coming winter’s Siaures Amerikos Lietuviu Fizinio Auklejimo ir  Sporto Sajunga (SALFASS) aka Lithuanian American Athletic Union of North America & Amerikos Lietuviu Gydytoju Associacija (ALGS) – snow ski and winter trip is to the beautiful Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort in South Lake Tahoe, California over Spring Break during March 21-28, 2009 !!! 

The Lithuanian World Ski Championships, organized by Pasaulio Lietuviu Kalnu Slidinejimo Federacija (PLKSF), are being held during that same week in conjunction with SALFASS and ALGS.

As in the past, there will be hundreds of sports enthusiasts from Lithuania and around the world attending and having a great time. Both skiers and non-skiers and their families are welcome!

ACCOMODATIONS AND OTHER INFORMATION:

We highly recommend the “Embassy Suites Hotel” which is directly adjacent to the Heavenly Ski Resort gondola. A daily complimentary full breakfast buffet & happy hour drinks and appetizers have been arranged for our group. The Embassy Suites Hotel is located directly across the street from major casino’s, restaurants, and entertainment.

The tentative schedule of events include:

Saturday, March 21st:

Arrival to South Lake Tahoe! Ski if you have time with suggested lunch @ “Snow Beach” at the base of the new “Powderbowl Express” lift @ noon & “apres ski” Happy Hour at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Sunday, March 22nd:

Suggested ski day at Heavenly Mountain ski area with lunch at the “Sky Deck” restaurant on the mountain @ noon. Opening Ceremonies & Race day registration – location TBD.

Monday, March 23rd:

Practice race day on Heavenly Mountain’s “World Cup” ski run. Time: TBD. Lunch at the “Adventure Peak Grill” restaurant at top of Gondola @ noon. Non-skiers can ride the gondola to the top of the mountain for lunch and scenic sightseeing. Suggested “apres ski” Happy Hour at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Tuesday, March 24th:

Giant Slalom Race Day on Heavenly Mountain’s “World Cup” ski run. Time: TBD. May we suggest lunch at the “California Lodge” near the bottom of the “World Cup” ski run @ noon & “apres ski” Happy Hour at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Wednesday, March 25th:

Slalom Race Day on Heavenly Mountain’s “World Cup” ski run. Time: TBD. Suggested  lunch at the “Lakeview Lodge Food Court” @ noon located at the top of the Aerial Tram. Suggested Happy Hour at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Thursday, March 26th:

Suggested ski day at Squaw Valley Ski Resort in North Lake Tahoe, former site of the 1960 Winter Olympics. We have bus transportation leaving Embassy Suites Hotel for Squaw Valley in the morning and then returning via scenic sightseeing boat across Lake Tahoe! 

Tickets for the Squaw Valley ski day, including a luxury bus trip in morning to Squaw and 
spectacular Lake Tahoe boat trip return, must be purchased through Mary 
Hajdas of Heavenly Tahoe Vacations.

Suggested lunch to be at Squaw Valley’s “Alexander’s Cafe & Bar” at the top of the Cable Car @ noon. Non-skiers can ride the Cable Car to the top of the mountain for lunch and sightseeing.

Friday, March 27th:

Suggested ski day at Heavenly Mountain with lunch at the “Adventure Peak Grill” at the top of the gondola. Non-skiers can ride the gondola to the top of the mountain for lunch and sightseeing. Happy Hour is suggested at the Embassy Suites Hotel.

Saturday, March 28th:

Last day to ski and enjoy beautiful Lake Tahoe! Have a safe trip home. Thank you for participating!
